Flood Windstorms When windstorms occur, SES volunteers are quickly on the scene making temporary repairs to ensure that buildings are secure until owners can arrange for permanent repairs. Earthquake In the event of earthquake, every emergency service will be involved - the SES is responsible for co-ordinating the total response. Road Rescue and Heavy Rescue In some outer Melbourne Metropolitan suburbs, and most country
areas of Victoria, SES volunteers have responsibility for the extracation of trapped
car, truck, bus, train and rail accident victims. The SES also will perform workplace,
farm and industrial rescues. This is a vital part of SES work. Emergency Planning & Preparedness In co-operation with all other relevant groups and organisations the SES assists in developing local council emergency plans. Search and Rescue Highly trained and well equipped volunteers are often involved in assisting the Victoria Police with search and rescue operations on land and inland waters, vertical rescues, bush and snow searches. The SES have also been known to rescue animals too. Support and Relief Roles SES provides support to the Victoria Police, Metropolitan Ambulance Service, Country Fire Authority and other Emergency Services as required. The SES co-ordinate the activities of other relief agencies when required such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army. Community Commitments SES volunteers are comminity minded and get involved with community events providing their services such as lighting, car parking, demonstrations and also static displays. On particluar long weekends Pakenham SES volunteers take part in Driver Reviver and serve free tea and coffee to drivers at Officer Mobil Service Station. | |
